Club Retro is a pulsating time machine, seamlessly blending the haunting synths and brooding melodies of the dark ’80s with the electrifying resurgence of New Wave—both from its golden era and its modern-day evolution. Think of it as a night where the past, present, and future collide on the dance floor, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia infused with cutting-edge beats.

DJ KAERIE BIO:

DJ Kaerie was first invited to spin by DJ Adam Atom during Sabbat’s legendary nights at The Flame. Soon after, she became a regular guest DJ at Club Ascension at Kava Lounge (RIP), and it wasn’t long before Robin Roth invited her to become a resident DJ. For the past eight years, Kaerie has been a vital force at Club Ascension, bringing her deep love for dark electronic music to the dance floor.

In addition to her residency, Kaerie has made guest appearances at numerous events, including Taking Liberties, Rapture, Blue Monday, and Gothic Pride. During the shutdown, she co-founded the “of Lillies and Remains” livestream with Lady Noir. Afterward, she launched “Club Retro”, originally with Housed Forever, and eventually joined again by Lady Noir. Kaerie is a devoted vinyl collector, she loves spinning vinyl sets and is a frequent guest selector at Part-Time Lover. 

Kaerie’s heart lies with genres like Gothic, Industrial, EBM, Darkwave, and especially Futurepop, but her musical roots run deeper. She began her journey with classical training, attending Yamaha music classes that focused on ear training and music theory. She even performed with the San Diego Symphony. This classical background gives her DJ sets a distinctive edge, allowing her to seamlessly blend dark, melodic, and driving beats through the art of harmonic mixing. Some of her favorite artists include The Cure, Clan of Xymox, Rotersand, Apoptygma Berserk, Nine Inch Nails, VNV Nation, and anything involving Daniel Ash.

Beyond the music, Kaerie has a passion for electronic equipment, with a professional background in electronics design and manufacturing. She’s just as drawn to the technical side of DJing as she is to the music itself, often getting hands-on with the gear.
